The unit builds on concepts and techniques of management accounting introduced in ACC101 Accounting for Decision Makers. The focus of the unit is how accounting is used internally within an organisation to communicate decision-useful information to management. The unit covers the fundamental concepts and tools used by management accountants to provide information for purposes of planning and control. 

Topics include nature and purpose of management accounting, costs classifications, cost behaviour and advanced CVP analysis, costing of products and services in a manufacturing environment and a non-manufacturing environment, budgeting and variances analysis, inventory management, and performance measurement. Ethical and social issues are embedded throughout the unit.
